ULTMMA.com Names Invicta FC the 2012 Local MMA Promotion of the Year

January 22, 2013

On January 1, 2012 Invicta Fighting Championships was merely an idea and still weeks away from officially announcing the details of their first fight card. From April 28, 2012 to January 5, 2013 the rookie all-female promotion held more than 50 fights over the course of four events. On a regional level Invicta FC shot out of the gates with a recipe of hype, grassroots marketing and momentum unmatched by most if not all local mixed martial arts shows over the last five years.

The early success coupled with the often times polarizing nature of watching two females compete in cage fighting put Invicta FC under a larger microscope than your typical local MMA promotion. The newfound spotlight allowed Invicta FC to work hand in hand with Women's MMA's growth spurt of 2012. With a small staff Invicta FC was excellent at directing the MMA media's narrative and maximizing the company's exposure for each of their four fight cards.

Invicta FC joins Shark Fights in 2009, Tachi Palace Fights in 2010, and Cage Warriors FC in 2012 as ULTMMA.com local MMA promotion of the year award recipients. ULTMMA.com sat down with Invicta FC president Shannon Knapp to discuss the origins of the promotion, broadcast deals and the company's goals for 2013.
