Top sunshine state mixed martial arts promotion Art of Fighting held their first event of 2011 in conjunction with the Florida State Fair. Saturday night's Art of Fighting 11 fight card also one of the highlights of the first ever Florida MMA Expo, which was also held during the weekend.

Two local prospects picked up second round wins on the AOF 11 undercard. Clearwater heavyweight striker David Yost (7-3) snapped a two fight losing skid with bloody second round stoppage of Mike Greeson (3-1).The 30 year old Yost, a solid big man prospect, had a rough past 12 months with a loss to UFC vet Marcio Cruz and journeyman Michael Buchkovich.

Yost walloped Greeson with punches throughout the opening round. Inside on the clinch Yost ate up Greeson with uppercuts that did most of the night's damage. In the second frame a bad cut on Greeson was enough for the doctors at cage side to halt the bout a little over a minute into the round. All seven of Yost's career MMA wins have come via stoppages.

A stout 6'1 heavyweight Yost has the punching power to keep him in most fights at the local level. If, Yost is able to improve on his submission defense while he patches up other holes in his game he will always have a home as a highlight reel heavyweight fighter. By the end of 2011Yost will need a victory over an ex UF fighter or a fellow big time prospect to truly put a stamp on his fight resume.

The hype behind unbeaten Raul Amaya (7-0) continues to surpass expectations. Amaya faced off with Hawaiian import Koa Ramos (6-4) in a three round welterweight prospect battle. For the 25 year old Amaya the fight with a veteran like Ramos was an appropriate step up in competition.

In a impressive grappling display Amaya sunk in a rear naked choke near the two minute mark of round two. Ramos officially tapped out at the 1:57 mark of the second period. The win was the fourth submission win of Amaya's two year MMA career. Amaya is the latest 170 prospect to score a victory over Ramos. The 24 year old 808 Fight Factory fighter has been downed by the likes of Dylan Clay, Sam Oropeza and Ricky Legere.

Amaya plans to return to the Art of Fighting cage on April 2nd versus former Ultimate Fighter season 12 cast member Charles Blanchard (9-2).The 25 year old Blanchard holds major hallmark wins over prospects Dog Lima and Jimmy Wallhead. The winner of Amaya vs. Blanchard will get a huge boast in the regional welterweight division standings and will be well on their way to a potential big league MMA contract.
