Yosmany Cabezas and Angela Magana score quick wins at MFA New Generation 5

Miami mixed martial arts promotion Mixed Fighting Alliance returned over the weekend for the fifth installment of their New Generation fight series. In the main event Florida middleweight prospect Yosmany Cabezas (10-2) took on Mike Jackson (10-8). Cabezas, a former Bellator FC tournament participant, sent a message with his quick win over Jackson.

Cabezas finished off Jackson a little past the first minute mark of round one. A bevy of punches on a downed Jackson gave Cabezas his tenth pro win. The official time of the TKO stoppage came at 1:117 of round one.

After an 18 month absence from the cage Cabezas has returned with two wins in the span of six months. The 27 year old Cabezas last competed against fellow Florida prospect Danny Babcock back in November 2010. In the always thin 185 pound weight class Cabezas is a four star level fighter that could earn another shot in a major league promotion before the end of 2011.

Cabezas is the number 12 middleweight prospect in MMA according to ULTMMA.com

In women's MMA action strawweight fighter Angela Magana (9-4) returned to the cage for the first time since September 2009. Magana's opponent was Elsie Henri (4-4) who was looking to rebound from a November 2010 armbar defeat at the hands of veteran Jessica Aguilar.

Six months later it was the same result for Henri as Magana slapped on armbar on in less than two minutes. The submission came at the 1:55 point of round one and was the first time Magana had her hand raised since June 2009.

At only 27 years of age Magana is a prospect that should remain in Bellator FC's sights if they decide to run a women's 115 or 125 pound tournament in the future.
