Bakersfield, CA-- The MMA debut of former Ohio State Buckeye Lance Palmer (1-0) made all the headlines but welterweight prospect Brock Jardine may have stolen the show. MMA promotion and amateur wrestling supporter Fight for Wrestling returned to Bakersfield, California for their third fight card.A portion of the proceeds of the event went towards the CSUB wrestling program.

A four time All American at Ohio State, Palmer impressed in a first round win over Stockton fighter Emilio Gonzales (0-2).Palmer opened the fight with a hard double leg that sent Gonzales crashing against the cage. A native of Cleveland, Palmer opened up Gonzales' guard with a bundle of punches. Palmer's ground n' pound eventually forced Gonzales to give up his back.

The fight came to a quick end when Palmer locked in a rear naked choke that Gonzalez was unable to shake. The official time of the tap out came 2:22 into the opening round.

Only 23 years old Palmer brings a highly decorated collegiate wrestling pedigree to the featherweight division. Now a member the famed Team Alpha Male fight camp in northern California, Palmer has watched his team turn amateur wrestlers Chad Mendes and Joseph Benavidez into MMA contenders. Palmer will have every opportunity to become the next Team Alpha Male sensation and his progress as a 145 pound prospect will be monitored closely in 2011.

The co-main event saw Utah prospect Brock Jardine (7-1) score the biggest knockout win of his career. Jardine was slotted against Exeter fighter Kenny Ento (11-6). Jardine unearthed a right hand that flattened Ento in the opening exchange of the fight. The referee halted the fight 22 seconds in after it was clear Ento was knocked out.

The KO win was just the second (T) KO finish of Jardine's four year career. The 25 year old Jardine is on the edge of three and four star prospect status and has now won two in a row in spectacular fashion. Jardine is the number 16 rated welterweight prospect according to ULTMMA.com.
