Alexis Vila returns vs. 125 lb. prospect Josh Sampo & JZ Cavalcante vs. Luis Palomino set for CFA 7 in FL
41 year old Alexis Vila's (11-2) MMA career is not done yet. After being released by Bellator in April, Vila will return to the cage in the co-main event of Championship Fighting Alliance 7 versus flyweight prospect Josh Sampo (6-2). CFA 7 takes place at the Bank United Center in Coral Gables, Florida on June 30th.
The main event of CFA 7 will feature Strikeforce lightweight JZ Cavalcante (16-5) versus Florida local Luis Palomino (19-7).
A former Cuban Olympic wrestler Vila will look to bounce back from back to back decision losses in Bellator. Vila competed at 125 pounds prior to signing with Bellator for consecutive tournaments where the 5'4 fighter moved up to 135 pounds. The Sampo-Vila match-up is currently scheduled to be contested in the bantamweight division.
The 27 year old Sampo will jump right back in the cage after he suffered a knockout loss to UFC/WEC vet Will Campuzano at a May 19th card in Missouri. A strong prospect in the flyweight division, Sampo was up on points before a perfectly timed knee from Campuzano knocked him out in the third round. The bout for Sampo against Vila will be his third fight in three months.
On the undercard four star featherweight prospect Jordan Parsons (8-0) will defend his CFA belt versus Florida fighter Lazar Stojadinovic (7-5). Working out of Minnesota Martial Arts Academy, Parsons is rated as the number 13th ranked unsigned featherweight prospect in MMA according to the latest ULTMMA.com top 20 list.
