The 2012 ULTMMA50: MMA’s top 50 prospects by the numbers

-Only three fighters have appeared on the 2009, 2010,2011 and 2012 versions of the ULTMMA50: Heavyweight/light heavyweight Robert Drysdale, Lightweight/featherweight Calvin Kattar and flyweight Darrell Montague

-The unofficial first five out or fighters 51-55 include two Canadian fighters and a Swedish bantamweight. Welterweight Brandon Thatch (6-1), bantamweight Sirwan Kakai (6-1), featherweight Cody Bollinger (13-1), bantamweight Josh Hill (8-0), and welterweight Alex Garcia (7-1) all could make a valid case for inclusion in the ULTMMA50.

-ULTMMA.com has expanded its international coverage tenfold since the site went live in August 2009. The 2009 version of the ULTMMA50 was very US fighter centric. Including the likes of Rory MacDonald and Paul Sass, the ULTMMA50 2009 had just eight international fighters on the list. The 2012 version of the ULTMMA50 has nine international fighters in its top 20.

-The average age of the ULTMMA50 fighter is: 24 years old. The average of top 25 is 23 years old.

-The winning percentage all 50 ULTMMA50 fighters is: 89 percent

-As expected the 2009 edition of the ULTMMA had the most fighters signed by a major promotion. A total of 24 from the ULTMMA50 2009 went on to sign with the UFC, WEC, Strikeforce or Bellator. The 2010 edition of the ULTMMA50 had 20 signees while last year's ULTMMA50 is already at 18.
