Middleweight prospect Kelvin Gastelum earns fifth stoppage in a row at Rage in the Cage 161

Arizona MMA promotion Rage in the Cage returned to Chandler's Wild Horse Pass Casino for RITC 161. In the main event Arizona middleweight prospect Kelvin Gastelum (5-0) quickly dispatched of Mike Ashford (3-5). The 20 year old Gastelum brought the fight to the floor and unloaded a bevy of strikes onto a fallen Ashford.
Gastelum induced a tap out from Ashford at the 1:57 mark of round one. The fight was Gastelum's second in the span of 13 days. A 5'9 middle/welterweight tweener out of Yuma, Gastelum has won all five of his pro fights via stoppage.
On the undercard welterweight Victor Meza (11-3) returned to the cage for the first time in over two years. A two time Bellator fighter Meza knocked out local Oscar Rodriguez (1-5) in short order. Now a member of Glendale's MMA Lab team, Meza earned the first clean knockout of his career just 55 seconds into round one.
