UFC division rankings for August 2012-top tens hold steady as UFC searches for contenders
August 15, 2012
Across five events from UFC 148 to UFC 150 the promotion's weight classes saw surprisingly little movement within the top ten. Favorites ruled the roost starting at UFC 148 where middleweight champion Anderson Silva (32-4) and perennial featherweight contender Chad Mendes (12-2) picked up wins. The UFC on Fox 4 card saw light heavyweight top four fighters Mauricio Rua (21-6) and Lyoto Machida (18-3) defeat each of their opponents in decisive fashion.
On the horizon to the surprise of most observers the UFC has not booked any top five versus top five match-ups in the coming months. In the middleweight division Michael Bisping (21-3) and Brian Stann (12-4) will look to use the other as a launching pad at UFC 152. Later in the year at UFC 154 in November Johny Hendricks (13-1) and Martin Kampmann (20-5) will shake up the welterweight division with a number two versus number five ranked UFC contender bout.
