Often an underrated prospect at 135 pounds Oregon's Tyson Nam (12-4) traveled to Brazil to be the sacrificial lamb for Bellator's bantamweight champion and native son Eduardo Dantas (14-3) at Shooto Brazil 33. Nam first garnered a name for himself back in 2006 when he took on Hawaiian veteran Mark Oshiro under the famed Icon Sport banner. A right hook that connected flush on Dantas chin a little over 90 seconds into round one gave Nam his first clean knockout win since August 2009.

With the upset win Nam likely has booked his ticket into a Bellator tournament or a UFC undercard for his next fight. Heading into 2012 Nam was pegged as the 16th best bantamweight prospect in MMA by ULTMMA.com's top 20 rankings but he has clearly shown the ability to raise his game to the next level and his worthy of a shot in a major league MMA organization.
