Injury Forces Roger Bowling Out of Sept. 5th Fight W/ War Machine

Five Star prospect Roger Bowling will have to pull out of his scheduled September 5th bout with UFC veteran War Machine. The undefeated Bowling 6-0 cracked three knuckles in his hand in his last fight on July 25th, this according to a blog post on the fighters website. Training through the injury he hoped would heal before fight time, this is the second time the Bowling vs. War Machine fight has been postponed.

The welterweight fight was originally set to take place June 20th in Veevay, Indiana before a broken wrist forced Bowling to the sidelines.

Bowling, an Ultmma50 ranked prospect has compiled an unblemished record fighting mostly under Ohio's MMA Big Show banner. The Ohio native has notable wins over Shamar Bailey and Seth Baczynski. An accomplished amateur boxer with a record of 9-0, Bowling has shown heavy hands inside of the cage. In six pro fights thus far none of Bowling's fights have made it past the first round.

The fighter formally known as Jon Koppenhaver, War Machine was a member of season six of the UFC's Ultimate Fighter reality show. With a 9-2 record War Machine is 4-0 since being cut by the UFC in May 2008. Since then, War Machine was also released by Bellator Fighting Championship before he fought for the promotion following controversial remarks he made about President Barack Obama.

War Machine currently trains at Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas.

The Bowling vs. War Machine fight was set headline Xtreme Fighting Championship's September 5th card scheduled to be broadcast live on HDNet.

The Tampa Florida based XFC announced that Mikey Gomez will step in to replace Bowling.
