International spotlight- Trojan MMA results: Pat Curran defeats Robbie Oliver in England
A crop of Midwest MMA fighters made the trek across the pond to compete at Trojan MMA's Warfare event in England. The main event was a featherweight contest between Illinois's Pat Curran (10-3) and local Robbie Olivier (16-9-1).
Needing the full 15 minutes Curran was able to down Olivier, a former Cage rage 145 champion, via unanimous decision. The win was the sixth by three round decision for Curran in his career.
The 22 year old Curran is the cousin of former WEC contender Jeff Curran. After posting a 9-3 record as an undersized lightweight, Curran has now officially begun the transition of competing at featherweight full time. Known for the pop in his hands Curran is a dangerous prospect for any competitor at 145 pounds.
Curran clocks in at number 39 in the ULTMMA50; a pound for pound listing of the top 50 prospect in MMA.
In heavyweight action one time UFC fighter Neil Wain (6-2) put away American Lloyd Marshbanks (19-12) with a barrage of punches in the opening frame. The win was the first in over ayear for Wain who hasd previously dropped back to back fights to prospect Rob Broughton and UFC title hopefully Shane Carwin respectively.
