Taking an in-depth look at select fighters from the ULTMMA50 number 40 Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt Robert Drysdale (1-0) takes on Josh Musick (5-1) back in October 2008 at a Tuff-N-Uff event in Las Vegas.
Drysdale is in the black shorts with multiple sponsors and the fight starts two minutes into the video.
Robert Drysdale is an interesting case study in the science of grading MMA prospects. Drysdale clocks in at number 40 in the ULTMMA50 based solely on his potential and elite BJJ ability.
Dating back to the late 90's Drysdale has accumulated an exhaustive list of grappling accomplishes. Highlights include World jiu-jitsu gold medals and first place in the acclaimed ADCC Submission wrestling world championship in 2007.
Currently residing in Las Vegas, Drysdale has coached and trained alongside some of the biggest names in MMA. Frank Mir, Wanderlei Silva and Randy Couture have all worked with Drysdale. The 28 year old heavyweight also runs his personal jiu-jitsu school in Nevada as well.
The question about Drysdale's long-term MMA potential is does his heavy work schedule preclude further development? Coach, trainer, gym owner all take precedent on Drysdale's calendar in 2010.
The lack of high level grapplers in both the heavy and light heavyweight divisions makes Drysdale a hot commodity if he ever decides to give MMA a serious run.
